11-30-2016  - Sheriff John Buncich wishes to clarify to the public that no Lake County Sheriff’s Department officers are currently deployed to North Dakota in reference to the ongoing protests. Officers of the Lake County Sheriff’s Department were deployed to that location as part of the Department of Homeland Security and those officers returned home more than three weeks ago.  Click for more inifo...

 

10-31-2016 - On November 25th 2016 at the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, retired officers needing to complete qualification for the Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act (H.B. 218) can do so between the hours of 8 A.M. and 12 P.M.  Please contact the Training Division at 219-755-3368 with any questions.

 

7-12-2016 - The Lake County Sheriff’s Department Re-Entry Program is seeking interns to work with our Department. During this internship, students will learn more about the services provided by the Re-Entry program to assist inmates with a successful transition back into society. Listed below are some of the services the Re-Entry program provides.

·       Assessments

·       Case Management

·       Referral Linkage

·       Court Appearances with Inmates

·       Working with Medical and Mental Health Teams for Placement after Release

·       Grant Research and Writing to Expand the Program

6-27-2016 - On June 27, 2016 Sheriff John Buncich was presented with the Patriotic Employer Award for his continued support of military personnel. Army National Guard Specialist Ta’Ronda Ferguson, who also serves as a Corrections Officer for the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, nominated Sheriff Buncich for this award. The award was presented by the U.S. Department of Defense Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve program.  Click for more info...
