MATT EATON, CHIEF OF POLICE

Matt Eaton has over 13 years of management experience, having served in direct supervision and administration of several law enforcement units. He started with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department in 1995 and has worked in virtually every division of the agency.
 
Matt graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 1997. He went on to graduate from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command in 2012 and is currently pursuing an education in Security Management from American Military University.
 
Sheriff Buncich stated, “During his service with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, Commander Eaton has implemented effective management and investigative procedures, which have resulted in a significant increase in felony case filings. He has successfully created and implemented critical incident response protocol for major crimes, requiring the rapid and efficient deployment of resources to high-profile events.” He was named the 2011 Lake County Officer of the Year.
