EDWARD DAVIES, DEPUTY JAIL ADMINISTRATOR
EDWARD DAVIES Sr. was born in Gary, IN. he is a product of the Gary Public School System. He graduated from St. Joseph Calumet College in 2004 with Distinction, receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in Law Enforcement Management.
Davies was appointed by Lake County Sheriff John Buncich as the Jail Administrator of the Lake County Jail, in November 2016, after serving two years as the Civilian Chief of Staff. He has over 38 years of law enforcement experience. He retired in 2008 from the Lake County Sheriff’s Department with 29 years of service, where he served as a member of the Sheriff’s Command Staff, serving as Commander of Criminal Investigations, Staff Services Division and Jail Commander. He is a 1995 graduate of the 180th Session F.B.I. National Academy class in Quantico, Virginia. He is an accomplished Hostage/ Crisis Negotiator with over 100 successful Critical Incident Interventions. Following his retirement he was employed from 2008-2014, as a police supervisor with the Indiana University Northwest Police Department, including serving as the Interim Chief of Police.
He currently serves as Chairman of the Indiana State F.O.P. Pension and Diversity Committees, member Chris Anton F.O.P. Lodge #125, Indiana Chapter F.B.I.N.A., International Chief of Police, Indiana Hostage Negotiators Association and a charter member of the Northern Indiana Chapter of NOBLE, National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives serving as past Treasurer. He is a lifelong member of the Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church. He and his wife, Johnnie, have two children, Edward Jr. and Todnie; and three grandchildren.
