The Sheriff, by virtue of his office, is responsible for the transfer of convicted inmates from his respective county to other institutions within the State.

Transport of a convicted person to a receiving authority.

Deliver the person to the authority.

Mentally ill patients who are committed to a facility by court order.

Any other person ordered for transportation by a court order.
The Sheriff must transport a convicted person within 5 days of sentencing, unless the court order defines another specified time.
