Drug Task Force
The Lake County Drug Task Force investigates organizations and individuals involved in the distribution of narcotics in Lake County. This encompasses undercover operations, executions of arrest warrants, execution of search warrants and follow up investigations to narcotic related offenses from Patrol Officers. The unit is comprised of Lake County Detectives who also work in conjunction with outside Federal and local agencies.

High Crime Unit
Covering all of Lake County, the Lake County Sheriff’s High Crime Unit (HCU) is comprised of Detectives whose primary responsibility is patrolling areas of Lake County known for violent crimes, narcotic distributions and gang related activities.
HCU works co-operatively with the Lake County Narcotics Unit, the Lake County Tactical Team and several Federal Agencies in its on-going crime related investigations.
Since 2018, HCU has made over 424 arrests which resulted in the confiscation of 58 weapons, large quantities of Heroin, Cocaine and Marijuana along with the seizure of thousands of dollars in United States Currency.
In addition to its other duties, HCU conducts numerous seminars to other law enforcement agencies as well as informational classes to crime watch groups, schools, churches and civic groups.

Highway Interdiction Unit
The Lake County Highway Interdiction Unit (HIU) is comprised of Lake County Detectives who have the primary responsibility of patrolling the interstate highways within Lake County. These Detectives have specialized training on detecting those that are committing crimes such as trafficking drugs, weapons, cash and contraband.
In 2018 HIU has seized over $400,000 in United States Currency, over 300 pounds of marijuana and over 5 pounds of heroin.
