How do I report a crime to the Sheriff's Department?

Answer:

If the crime is "in progress," call 9-1-1. If the crime has already occurred and no immediate emergency exists, call 219-660-0001 to request a Deputy to come to your location and make an Incident Report.

How do I obtain a copy of an accident report? Is there a fee?

Answer:

Accident reports are available at the Bureau of Identification (B of I) on the 2nd floor, located at 2293 N. Main Street, Crown Point, IN 46307 on Monday-Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm (excluding holidays). The fee is $15.00 Cash or Money Order. (please allow up 72 hours for report to be completed)

Answer:

Background checks are done at the Bureau of Identification (B of I) on the 2nd floor, located at 2293 N. Main Street, Crown Point, IN 46307 on Monday-Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm (excluding holidays). The fee is $7.00 Cash or Money Order. Individual seeking a record check on themselves must have a valid driver's license or state identification card.
